118 Day NICU Update
I’m so very happy to update you that Clifford’s tracheostomy surgery and recovery has gone great! Many tears were shed when he was wheeled back into his room and we saw his beautiful (full) face for the first time. Over the past five days, they kept Cliff very sedated to keep him from moving so everything can heal. He was able to get lots of rest.
105 Day NICU Update
As you know from my last post, we've been approaching a pivotal point in Clifford's journey. Over the last week, he started to have more episodes where his oxygen saturation would drop. This prompted the doctors to conduct a bronchoscopy, a procedure where they insert a small camera down Clifford's throat to see what exactly is happening during these episodes.
93 Day NICU Update
It's been quite a while since my last update. It's hard to believe we've now been on our NICU journey for 93 days. The past month has been filled with both challenges and triumphs, but overall much-needed stability for Clifford. In terms of milestones, we're celebrating a significant one as Clifford crossed the six-pound mark— our little warrior is 6x his birth weight! Additionally, all his brain scans have returned normal results, providing us with so much reassurance.
52 Day NICU Update
Since our last update, Clifford has been doing better. He’s been able to fight through his most recent infection, although his oxygen needs have continued to be very high. Over the last week he’s been stable, but not making much improvement. In other news, we laid our sweet Nellie Kay to rest on Sunday. We held such a special service for her on the most beautiful Fall day. Now, we have a place to visit her anytime we want.
42 Day NICU Update
Going to keep this update short because I'm so tired and we've been down this road before. Unfortunately, our stable and 'boring' week was short-lived and Clifford caught another infection. We're not exactly sure where the infection is, but earlier this week he started acting not himself - oxygen needs rising, and very uncomfortable.
