52 Day NICU Update
Hi friends,
Since our last update, Clifford has been doing better. He’s been able to fight through his most recent infection, although his oxygen needs have continued to be very high. Over the last week he’s been stable, but not making much improvement. The good news is that they’ve been able to start his feedings again and he is now up to 17ml every three hours! It’s very good that his tummy has been tolerating the feeds, because we needs him to grow. He also doubled his birth weight! He’s now 2 pounds and 8 ounces, looking cuter than ever. Something we’re all very excited about, is that Clifford started the ‘big gun’ steroids over the weekend. The hope is that they will take away the inflammation in his lungs and give him the big boost he needs to improve his breathing. So far we’ve started to see small progress, making slow weans on his ventilator and getting his o2 as low as 66%. The goal is to get him back on the conventional vent and off of the high frequency oscillator.
In other news, we laid our sweet Nellie Kay to rest on Sunday. We held such a special service for her on the most beautiful Fall day. Now, we have a place to visit her anytime we want. We know she’s with us every step of this journey, watching out for her little brother.
Thank you everyone for the love and continued prayers. We are so thankful for the people by our side!
With love,
Sadie
