42 Day NICU Update
Hi friends,
Going to keep this update short because I'm so tired and we've been down this road before. Unfortunately, our stable and 'boring' week was short-lived and Clifford caught another infection. We're not exactly sure where the infection is, but earlier this week he started acting not himself - oxygen needs rising, and very uncomfortable. It got to the point where we had to switch Cliff back to the high-frequency vent and he's since been sitting at very high o2 needs. Doctors brought all the meds back that they had taken away not long ago; antibiotics, diuretics, sedatives, etc. They also had to take him off feedings again for the time being.
We're bummed. We're tired. We feel like we took a bunch of steps back. We hate seeing our baby sick and fighting every day. But, we know he will get through this infection just like he has in the past. He will get back on track.
On a positive note, this week Clifford turned 6 weeks actual, 30 weeks corrected. He also finally reached 2 pounds! This means he graduated from the small baby neighborhood and gets to hang out with the 'big babies'. It's pretty wild seeing a normal-sized baby and hearing them cry. We can't wait until Cliff is bigger and can cry!!! We'll get there. For now, he just needs time. I'll leave a couple cute photos of Cliff before he got sick from earlier this week.
If you can, please pray for our little guy. Pray for healing, growth, and strength. Pray for his lungs, that he can beat this new infection, and start making progress.
Thank you so so much. We are so thankful for the people in our corner.
With love,
Sadie
