Welcome to the world, Clifford
On August 18th at 4:50 pm we welcomed our baby boy, Clifford Brett Carlisle, into the world. At 24 weeks and weighing only 1lb 2 oz, he decided he just couldn't wait any longer. He came out kicking and crying - showing us who's boss! We are so in love with this little boy, and so proud of how hard he continues to fight.
Here's how it all started. On Thursday night the doctors noticed a few dips in Clifford's heartrate, nothing to be concerned about but enough for them to monitor closely. On Friday morning, the dips in his heart rate continued. This called for tests, an ultrasound, bloodwork, and more monitoring. After the Perinatologist closely reviewed the results, they made the ultimate decision that Clifford was no longer thriving in utero and would have less complications if we delivered. The doctors quickly prepped me for a c-section to happen within the hour. Codey was by my side throughout the entire surgery and got to see our little guy enter the world for the first time. The amazing NICU staff immediately brought Clifford into another room to get him stabilized and soon reported back that he was doing really well. Sigh of relief!
Since then, the NICU team has been at work providing the best care for Clifford. He is on a ventilator to help him breathe and develop his lungs, but overall stable and doing well. He's a fighter! We can't wait to watch him grow over the next few months until we can bring him home. Our miracle! We know that his twin sister Nellie Kay has been with him throughout it all.
Thank you for your continued prayers as we start this next chapter in our journey to bring home our baby boy. ❤️
Much love,
Sadie
